A classic ribbed hat, hand-knitted for the family-run Scottish factory Inverallan.
Hand-knitted items from Inverallan are noticeably different from the more common machine-knitted items in that they have a much denser structure, and the items themselves are impessive and solid.
This is roughly what the knitted clothes of fishermen and other inhabitants of the coast of Ireland and Scotland looked and felt like in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
A cotton hat warms and gives a feeling of comfort, but is not as hot as a woolen one. It is comfortable to wear for a long time both outside in warm autumn and cool spring, and in a cool room.
Made with a special stretchy knitting type. Suitable for all head sizes.
The hat is knitted from first-class cotton, dyed with indigo using rope dyeing technology. This labor-intensive technology appeared at the beginning of the 20th century and allows to obtain yarn of moderately deep dyeing, which will beautifully change color over time (what is called fading among denim connoisseurs), like the best examples of Japanese and American jeans.
Suitable for those who are allergic to wool.
IMPORTANT!
Please note that the hat will beautifully change color over time, like good jeans. Also, with prolonged contact, it can slightly stain white clothes, furniture or car upholstery. This is not a disadvantage, it is a feature of dyeing cotton with indigo.
Inverallan's production is divided between their own factory in the town of Alloa, which is just north of Edinburgh and Glasgow, and one of the best hand-knitting enterprises in India, with good working conditions and a responsible attitude to nature.
Suitable for both men and women.
