Heather Harris Tweed Mayakovskaya Cap by Old Pal /Harris Tweed/

In Mayakovsky’s cap, the dreams of a real vintage image are realized. The silhouette inspired by photographs and drawings of the early 20th century, and implemented by studies of original antique specimens led to this model.

 

How one could preserve the historic connection in one’s headgear, without making it look like a museum reconstruction piece? The Old Pal brand team attempted to answer this question in the Mayakovskaya cap.

 

The 1920s cap was accepted as a model, purchased from an antiques collector. The design, type of lining, and visor size are similar to the ancient model. The cut of the crown and the general fit were made narrower for the more elegant and ergonomic fit.

 

Their principal cloth is heather Harris Tweed with barleycorn weave (100% wool, handwoven in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland), and the lining is made of light gray linen fabric (100% linen). Internal sweatband made of 100% cotton.

 

This cap can be worn at least in three different ways:

1. With the crown shifted to the visor, making it similar to a classic flat cap.

2. With the crown shifted to one side, similar to eight-piece caps, for the cap volume is enough for that.

3. With the crown shifted to the back of the head, thus making the cap look more like a peaked service cap in its outline.

 

All data is transferred to the lining by means of an ancient method of hand cloth printing, employing the special resistant German-made stamp ink for fabrics that does not fade even if boiled.

 

The Old Pal caps are manufactured in Moscow by a small factory specializing in high-quality and small-batch clothing and accessories.
