Recreated classic 1920s men's henley from small German company Merz B. Schwanen, specializing in historical knitwear.
Henley is made on the original loopwheeler, produced in the first half of the 20th century. Such machines work many times slower than modern knitting machines, and the tension of the threads during production is much weaker. This makes the canvas more textured, softer and more authentic.
The fabric is knitted immediately in a tube, so the henley has no side seams (this is how the best knitwear was produced in the first half of the 20th century).
The henley shirt is made of premium quality organic cotton, which was produced with minimal harm to the environment. The buttons are made of natural mother-of-pearl.
The classic henley is an integral part of the men's wardrobe of the first half of the 20th century, which does not lose its relevance today. Then it was used primarily as underwear, but today it is permissible to wear henley as an independent element of clothing.
Such henleys can be found on many characters in films and TV series about the first half of the 20th century: from "Peaky Blinders" to "Boardwalk Empire".
Initially, the henley is definitely for men, but it is suitable for both men and women.
