Here is an integral part of the traditional British menswear - a knitted Fair Isle slipover from a small family factory Jamiesons of Shetland, which produces yarns and knits only from wool of local Shetland sheep directly in the Shetland Islands.
It is believed that clothing with similar patterns appeared among fishermen of the Shetland Islands in the early 19th century (Fair Isle is part of this archipelago located north of Scotland) and was of little interest outside of them until the early 1920s, when a similar sweater began to be worn by the trendsetter of his time, Prince Edward of Wales (the future King of Great Britain Edward VIII).
The Fair Isle vest is one of the most comfortable and versatile pieces of clothing in this style: it can be worn alone (over a shirt) or with a tweed jacket or coat. It matches perfectly with corduroy, tweed or canvas pants, tweed caps and felt hats, English plaid shirts, knitted ties: all the elements of British country suit and American preppy style.
Fair Isle's variety of lines and patterns contrast harmoniously with the simplicity and consistency of plaid shirts, herringbone tweeds, barleycorn and other traditional British clothing textures.
Suitable for both men and women.
In addition to the slipover, the model is wearing an Old Pal shirt in Portuguese flannel and a City Sport 1915 cap in Donegal tweed from our range, as well as jeans from the Last Hero brand.
