Bordeaux Furfelt Homburg Hat with Silk Lining and Leather Sweatband by Tonak /Fur Felt/

This classic furfelt homburg hat was made by Tonak factory from Czech Republic. Tonak is the oldest producer of felt hats in Eastern Europe, heir to the hat making traditions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The hat became widely known after the future king of Great Britain, Edward VII, during a visit to the German city of Bad Homburg (near Frankfurt am Main) in 1882, spotted it on the head of Kaiser Wilhelm II (his nephew). That hat was a part of a hunting suit and was in green color. Edward VII ordered for himself this hat in classic gray color at the local Ph.Möckel factory (from that time until the closure in 1931 the factory put the mark "The-Real-Homburg-Hat" on its bowlers and homburgs, and successfully supplied them to Great Britain).
In England at the end of the 19th century, the homburg hat quickly gained popularity, becoming a slightly less formal alternative to a cylinder and bowler hat.
Despite the fact that by the first third of the 20th century, homburg had already become a classic, the model was inferior in popularity to less formal fedoras and trilbies. Some outstanding politicians, namely Anthony Eden, Winston Churchill and Dwight Eisenhower, appreciated and regularly wore homburgs.
After the 1960s, movies became the main source of recognition for homburg hats. One of the most remarkable images - Michael Corleone played by Al Pacino in the movie "The Godfather" (1972).
Today, the homburg is a formal hat, more formal are only a cylinder and a bowler hat. At the same time, it can look very harmonious within different styles: from classical to western.
Also homburg can be quite elegantly combined with clothes from modern designers. The main thing is not to lose the sense of style and balance.
